Motcombe Road Safety - public meeting 18 November 2009. The following letter gives notice of a public meeting to beheld in the Motcombe Memorial Hall to discuss the recent Road Marking changes in the village. All members of the public are encouraged to attend.
"Dear All I thought I should send you an email to ensure you are all aware of the pending open day that has been arranged to take place in Motcombe Village Hall on Wednesday, 18th November between 1pm and 8pm. The purpose of this open day is to present to residents and all other interested parties the road safety proposals for the Village. I am also keen to provide a background to the trial that was carried out and hopefully to defuse some of the frustration that has been expressed by residents who feel they were poorly informed about the purpose and methods used for the trial. I can understand that some of the painted features promoted by my predecessor, Andy Berry, were somewhat radical and unfamiliar to road users and we have been critised that limited information was provided in advance to educate residents' of what the trial was trying to achieve. I have now taken a more pragmatic approach to the proposals I will be presenting which should be much more in keeping with the rural environment of Motcombe. For your information, I have attached a preliminary drawing showing the proposals that will be presented and I hope they will be met with your support. One thing to note is this drawing has since been changed to show that the footway leading to the school as a Type 1 footway and not a Type 3. Obviously, as we are only at preliminary design stage, I am open to comments that can be incorporated if deemed technically acceptable and that can be justified as an improvement to road safety, speed reduction and safe routes to school. (Click to see attached file: DC7056-10-1-oRIG.pdf) I hope you can attend on the 18th November. Kind regards Tim Spivey Project Manager LTP & Improvements Group Dorset County Council" |
