Motcombe Community Shop  -  News Update

Plans are progressing for the launch of the Motcombe Community Shop later this year.  The existing shop will be refurbished and will reopen with an entirely fresh new look.  It will sell an increased range of local products as well as competitively priced basic goods and essentials and of course the Post Office will continue to run.

The opening hours of the shop will be extended at both ends of the day for increased convenience for those who leave early to go to work or return late.  For those who have time for a chat, there will be a small coffee shop in the store as well.

£140,000 is needed to buy, refurbish and restock the village shop.  An amazing £63,000 has been raised so far in pledges from the village and further substantial grants and a loan have been acquired. But donations and pledges of money are still being sought.

Everyone is invited to attend another Open Meeting at the Memorial Hall on Sunday 18th April at 11:30 to hear a progress report from the management committee. Those who have volunteered to help with refurbishing the shop or to help serve in the shop will be able to find out what their tasks will entail.

There will be a major shop fundraising event on Saturday 15th May, the Motcombe Auction of  Promises, to be held at the Memorial Hall. We are currently collecting pledges for the auction, if you can offer a pledge:- cook a dinner party, do some gardening, offer a holiday cottage, a round of golf, a lesson on a computer, ticket to a sporting event, please let us know. We need pledges to suit all ages, all tastes and all budgets!
